Veterans Health Administration Overview
The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) provides healthcare and support services to United States Military Veterans which includes veterans of the United States Marines, Army, Navy, National Guard, and Coast Guard. The VHA healthcare facilities employ mover 52,000 licensed health care professionals to provide comprehensive healthcare to over 8.3 million veterans each year.
The VHA system is perhaps the largest integrated healthcare system in the world; made up of 150 medical centers, and over 1300 outpatient clinics, veterans centers, and living centers, located throughout the United States as well as U.S. territories.
Each state typically includes at least one major VHA hospital, a few VHA outpatient clinics, and possibly several community based outpatient clinics; which are usually independent facilities the also provide services for the VHA.
When considering outpatient clinics, it’s important to note that all outpatient clinics don’t provide the same services, so it’s important to do your research before traveling any distance to any of them. To aide you in this process, the state index below will guide you to facility listings for each state, that contain links to facility webpages.
