Statistics from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs show Florida as having 1,583,697 veterans, with 1,175,273 serving during wartime and 408,424 in peacetime.  Of he wartime vets, the distribution among conflicts is: Gulf War 460,144, Vietnam 515,110, Korea 169,078, and WWII 94,940.
