Access to affordable healthcare is an absolute necessity, and a right in today’s modern society. This is especially true in one of the richest countries in the world.

Unfortunately, Recent statistics indicate that the national average of Americans without health insurance is over 8%.  For some ethnic groups it is as high as 20%.

Many people have insurance through their jobs, while others, who’s employers don’t offer a health insurance plan,  have private insurance; which can be much more expensive.  People over 65, and certain individuals with disabilities receive their insurance benefits through Medicare. Veterans have access to medical benefits through the Veterans Administration. Finally, those who meet federal and individual state income guidelines, are eligible for Medicaid.

If you’re employer does not provide affordable insurance or you are unemployed without insurance, you should look to see if any of these options are available to you.

Where can I find private health and dental insurance?

An important note on private insurance: The federal government under President Obama has set up a national healthcare market place at https://www.healthcare.gov where you can comparison shop insurance plans offered in your state.  Also, some state have their own health insurance markets, instead of the national market. These can be found at https://www.healthcare.gov/marketplace-in-your-state/.

Where can I find information about federal and state health, financial, and housing benefits?

There is a great website provided by the federal government that will help you determine your eligibility for state and federal programs, as well as provide contact information for the appropriate agencies. Check out the Benefits Finder at https://benefits.gov.

The medical portion of this website provides an extensive list of free and affordable medical and dental, and veteran’s health facilities throughout the the 50 states, along with contact information.

We suggest that you always contact a facility before going there to confirm that their services are affordable and when and if they are available to accept new patients.
